Dehradun litchis ripen from late May to June. For a few weeks the orchards around the city turn red, and the fruit sellers move to every corner.

Orchards around Rajpur, Raipur and Vikasnagar sell at the gate in good years. The fruit is sweeter and fresher than anything in the market.
Buy them on the branch, eat them the same day.
Local tip · Ask the orchard owner which trees are the oldest. They usually give the best fruit.
